The County Council consist of seven Council members. One Council member is nominated and elected by the voters in each of the seven Council districts. Council members are elected by the registered voters of St Charles County for a four year term. The terms of Council members begin in January after their election. The County Council in January each year, elects a Chair and Vice-Chair of the Council. All legislative powers of the County are vested in the County Council.
